International Da’wah Conference 2011
بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
In 2011, Darul Arqam Singapore organised the International Da’wah Conference 2011. It was a decade since we organised the last one, and I was involved in that one as well, albeit in a minor capacity then.
The conference aimed to bring together real-life experiences of Muslim communities from different parts of the world where Islam is not the majority religion. It examined and encouraged exchange of experiences, techniques and examples of how minority Muslims face and overcome their challenges. It was held on the 9th and 10th July. It targeted activists, volunteers and those involved in da’wah activities. The overall attendance for the conference and related events was estimated at over 10,000 participants.
The speakers included Shaykh Ahmed Tijani Ben Omar from Ghana, Dr. Amatullah V Abdul-Karim from the USA, Dr Hisham Hellyer from the UK, Dr Waffie Mohammed from Trinidad & Tobago, Dr. Faila Pasic Bisic from Slovenia, Imam Yahya Pallavicini from Italy, Shaykh Saleh Habimana from Rwanda, Dr. Susan Carland from Australia and Shaykh Walead Mosaad from the USA.
As part of the programme,
we also included visits to MUIS and arranged meetings with policymakers and
diplomats. Additionally, we also had
external talks programme for the public.
